Laboratory Services

The Laboratory at Weatherford Regional Medical Center is accredited by The Joint Commission and offers full service for all product lines.

A large menu of general clinical testing for chemistry, special chemistry, hematology, coagulation and urinalysis is available 24 hours per day. STAT testing is available and routine testing is normally completed within 4 hours of specimen receipt. On most occassions, same-day turnaround time service is available for physician office patients and clinics.

The Laboratory has a full-service microbiology section. Microbiology also performs sensitivity testing against a variety of antibiotics.

The Transfusion Services (Blood Bank) section provides blood products for inpatient needs, but is also a source of blood services for outpatients needing transfusion or therapeutic phlebotomy. This section also performs testing and provides product for Rh-negative mothers.

Pathology Services

Weatherford Regional Medical Center has two full time pathologists for all inpatient, surgical, and outpatient laboratory needs.

As well as providing service for hospital inpatients, specimens can be collected and/or dropped off at several locations. Courier service is available to many physician offices, so specimens collected there - for any of the specialized services mentioned above - can be transported to the hospital.
