Weatherford Regional Medical Center to Honor Mrs. Dorothy Doss at Chapel Re-dedication

WEATHERFORD, Texas (June 22, 2012)  – Weatherford Regional Medical Center will honor Dorothy (Dottie) Doss at a ceremony on Wednesday morning, June 27, at 9 am, re-dedicating the James and Dorothy Doss chapel in the new patient tower at Weatherford Regional.

The chapel and stained glass artwork were originally donated by the Doss’ in 1972 when the hospital first opened its doors. Since that time it has been relocated twice as the facility has expanded to meet the needs of the growing community. The chapel’s original integrity has been maintained throughout both moves and it is now located on the second floor of the newly constructed patient tower. The new location, between the medical/surgical rooms and the ICU, makes it easier for patients and their family members to access.

“The Doss family has done so much through the years to better this community and provide for families in need. It is our hope that by relocating to a patient care area the chapel will minister to family members in need, while allowing them to stay close to their loved ones,” said Weatherford Regional’s chief executive officer, Cory Countryman. “The original intent of the chapel was to provide ‘a spiritual retreat and a quiet place of praise and worship’ and it is our hope that in relocating, patients and their families will find comfort in having this close to them.” 

Reverend Charles A. Bruner of Grace First Presbyterian Church in Weatherford will present a brief message on the intent of the chapel and offer a prayer of dedication on Wednesday morning. The ceremony will be held in the Austin Allen Barnett Memorial Gardens on Weatherford Regional’s campus. A breakfast reception will be held after the ceremony, during which guest will be invited to tour the chapel’s new location.
